SAIH values such as solidarity, inclusion and participation form the foundation of our work culture. As an advisor in the SAIH-team, you’re expected to work independently and develop the project and your role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Have a central role in shaping advocacy strategies and plans related to SAIH’s key areas of focus such as human rights, higher education and academic freedom.

  • Identify threats and opportunities through tracking and analysing legislation, policies, government announcements and work of international bodies such as the UN etc.
  • Support the development and implementation of campaign strategies, messaging and content
  • Connect with relevant networks and decision makers
  • Contribute to the development of SAIH’s voice in public discourse related to the key areas of our work.
  • Ensure SAIH's partners perspectives in SAIH's advocacy work and identify opportunities for joint initiatives

Skills and experience:

  • Relevant academic background
  • Proven results with advocacy work
  • Sound understanding of international political processes and human rights mechanisms
  • Experience with actively building and maintaining a network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on objectives/shared interests
  • Proven experience to multitask, take initiative and work under limited supervision
  • Excellent cross-cultural communications skills in English - oral and written.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian is an asset.
  • Expertise on the human rights situation for student activists is an asset
  • Capacity to see the big picture, but have a keen attention to detail and be hands-on
  • Willingness to work in a team and to communicate with colleagues, as well as an eagerness to learn and network
  • Proven experience to work with NGO projects and to report on the implementation of projects is an asset

SAIH can offer:

  • A good and inclusive work environment - SAIH is certified a Great Place to Work.
  • Flexible working hours, possibility to work partly from home, welfare money and workout during office hours.
  • Salary placement from pay grade 53-62 in the state salary scale (483 700-563 900 NOK), and promotions up to pay grade 70.
  • Membership in KLPs pension scheme.
  • Travel insurance. In Norway, health care for all individuals, schooling for children and most other public services are free.
  • Brand new office space (in an old but renovated building) in Grønland, central Oslo - we are moving in September 1st.

We welcome your application. Please upload a short application (maximum two pages) and your CV through Finn.no.

If you have questions regarding the position, please contact our Head of Communications Hilde Sofie Pettersen via email - hilde.pettersen@saih.no.
