Support Academics and Students in Gaza

All funds will go directly to students and academics in Gaza, coordinated through our partners who are representatives from the higher education sector.

All universities in Gaza have been bombed, some repeatedly, and several have been completely demolished. Thousands of students have been killed or wounded, and over 90,000 are displaced. Essential educational facilities and infrastructure, such as libraries and labs, have been destroyed and internet access is limited.

This is a scholasticide — a targeted strategy to dismantle Palestinian education.

Yet, amidst this devastation, students and academics continue to teach, study, research, and write.

This fundraiser builds on previous efforts to support the preservation of higher education under unimaginable conditions of genocide, starvation, and systemic destruction.

Through these efforts our Palestinian partners have supported students, teachers and academics to access academic facilities and continue educational activities.

Sustaining education in Gaza is about more than survival. It is a way to uphold dignity, identity, and hope. It lays the groundwork for rebuilding Palestinian society.

What is needed now is flexible and adaptive spaces where dreams can be nurtured even amidst destruction. These spaces become sanctuaries where students and academics can study and teach; and also reconnect with their aspirations, create meaning, and maintain their humanity under inhuman conditions.

Our partners have called this fragile yet defiant flame Norlys — combining the Arabic word “Nor” (light) with the symbolic hope we carry together.

Despite the chaos around them, many students describe a renewed purpose in life thanks to this initiative.

Your solidarity and support is needed and will keep hope alive.

Funds raised will:

  • Ensure internet access for academic activities.
  • Support access to language editing tools and digital resources.
  • Create spaces that embrace students' emotional needs.
  • Preserving the flame of Norlys, providing psychological and motivational support that enables students to continue living with purpose.

All funds will go directly to students and academics in Gaza, coordinated through our partners who are representatives from the higher education sector.
