Walls of resistance: Street art meets the fight for liberation

On Friday, June 27, SAIH and Street Art Oslo invite you to the unveiling of a new graffiti mural right in the heart of Oslo.
The mural is part of the Oslo Street Art Festival 2025 and is grounded in SAIH’s motto: Education for Liberation.
James Finucane, the festival’s artistic director, says about the partnership:
Through our collaboration, we want to transform the wall into a powerful symbol of liberation – a visual reminder of the ongoing struggle for human rights, such as the right to education, both domestically and internationally.
June 27 Program
17:00–18:00 – Artist Talk with Flexi Aukan, at “Folk” in Storgata
Meet visual artist, musician, and activist Mikal Bøckman, also known as Flexi Aukan. With roots in both Hauketo and Chile, he combines his political heritage with the energy of graffiti and street art to create powerful works in public spaces. Flexi Aukan is a central part of SAIH’s artivism project and has worked closely with our activists to explore how art can be used as a tool in the fight for justice. There will also be a presentation by SAIH President, Selma Bratberg.
18:00–19:00 – Unveiling of SAIH’s Mural
Join us for the unveiling of Oslo’s largest wall mural to date – a massive 590 m² spectacle at Christian Krohgs gate 39/41. Since 2024, SAIH and Street Art Oslo have been developing artivism – art in the service of activism – as part of SAIH’s ongoing work on human rights and social justice. The unveiling will feature speeches, music, light refreshments, and meaningful conversations.
The evening is free and open to all. We hope to see you there!
