Norway becomes host country to a new peace prize

Norway becomes host country to a new peace prizeNorway becomes host country to a new peace prize

Norway is known as the host country for several prizes and awards. Today yet another prize is launched, but this prize stands out from the rest. As the only prize in the world, the "Please Prize" seeks to be a call to peace dialogue and peace initiatives for the unresolved conflicts of the world.

The Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH) is the organization behind the initiative. The organization has been successful with its satirical videos like Radi-Aid: Africa for Norway and the "Radiator Awards". This time, they aim much higher.

The winner of the first ever «Please Prize» will be announced Friday 11th of March 12.00 PM (CET/UTC+1) on www.pleaseprize.com. The Please Prize is a visionary prize that looks forward, and is a call for action to world leaders.

"With the please prize, we want to inspire world leaders and politicians to take the first, decisive steps on the journey towards peace. We want to address world leaders to say "please", you can make peace if you want to", says president of SAIH, Nicklas Poulsen Viki.

SAIH do not conceal that they have been inspired by the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama in 2009, which received criticism because of being awarded to early.

"Many would say that Obama has not lived up to the expectations the Nobel Peace Prize created, but we thought a proactive prize was a fresh idea. We hope the new Norwegian peace prize will lead to real change, and that the expectations created will inspire to action" closes Viki.
