The right to free and unrestricted academic activity

Historically, the students and academics have played a decisive role in political change and have worked for democratic governance. Many are therefore exposed to persecution and sanctions by their authorities. Expulsions, dismissals, persecutions, harm, suppression or murders due to academic activities and utterance are unfortunately occurring quite frequently.

As a specific approach to this years campaign, SAIH is initiating a cooperation with the international network “Scholars At Risk”. The network works to promote academic freedom and university autonomy primarily by arranging temporary positions at member institutions for academics who for political or other reasons (e.g. discrimination, dismissal, censorship etc) cannot carry out their work at their own institutions.
